{ utkarsh ambudkar. cis man, he/him. } well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes, [ sonu “sonny” kintan naik ]! you haven’t changed one bit since the last time i saw you. are you still working as a [senior executive at soma enterprises]? oh, you are? well, i don’t mean to overstep, but don’t you think that with your [ mitochondria manipulation ] and [ a-rank ] score on the f.b.a.i. assessment, you could become a steward? aw, come on, don’t be that way! i could see it now, your name in lights, rubbing elbows with all those people on realhero tv… everyone already calls you [ the heir apparent~~?~~ ], that’s basically a hero name! look, just take this card and think about it, okay? just don’t let them know you’re a [ 42 ] year-old who has [ the lone light glowing at an office building at night, gold-trimmed fountain pens primed with blood-red ink, a grand dining hall replete with a feast’s worth of fineries accompanied by three empty chairs ] listed as your interests on alterego. what, didn’t think i had an account? please, everyone has one these days!

Power
What is your desired power? (If you have a link to a powerlisting article, please paste it here.)
Sonny can manipulate the mitochondria of eukaryotic organisms, giving him control over the cell’s production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and other mitochondrion functions.
How does that power manifest? (Reaction to danger, by thinking to activate it, it’s passively active, etc.)
Initially, Sonny’s mitochondrial ability was triggered as an acute stress response, activating whenever he perceived external threats and functioning as a protective mechanism against cellular damage. Under his father’s guidance, he learned to access this ability, recognizing bioenergetic signals derived from mitochondrial activity not only in humans but also in animals and plants.
With continued examination, Sonny has developed the capacity to temper his heightened sensitivity, modulating the perception of potential energy flux associated with mitochondrial ATP production in surrounding organisms.
Please describe how your muse’s power works, and please be as specific as possible!
Sonny’s ability to manipulate mitochondria enables him to regulate their essential cellular functions, including intercellular signaling, differentiation, respiration, control of the cell cycle and growth, and the initiation of programmed cell death. Because mitochondria are present in nearly all cell types except mature red blood cells, his influence extends broadly across biological systems. Moreover, Sonny can distort or reprogram mitochondrial activity, inducing dysfunctions that resemble mitochondrial diseases and thereby disrupting normal physiological processes.
Primarily, Sonny’s permutation functions as a biomedical research tool for SOMA Enterprises. By manipulating mitochondrial activity, he can enhance stamina, energy output, immune defenses (including antiviral responses, pathogen elimination, inflammation regulation, and immune cell recruitment), and accelerate tissue repair. These effects arise from his control over ATP production, apoptotic signaling, calcium homeostasis, and the metabolic synthesis of amino acids, lipids, and nucleotides, as well as thermogenesis through brown adipose tissue in animals. In plants, his ability extends to chloroplast regulation, allowing him to modulate energy and carbon metabolism across light and dark cycles.
What type of drawbacks and/or vulnerabilities does their power have, if any?
Sonny cannot generate new mitochondria; his ability is limited to influencing existing ones throughout their natural life cycle. Because his manipulation can alter mitochondrial morphology, biochemical pathways, and stability, the resulting effects are typically abrupt and short‑lived. While he can temporarily boost cellular function by accelerating ATP turnover into ADP, this does not address telomeres. As telomeres progressively shorten with each cell division, the target cells remain vulnerable to replicative aging. Consequently, prolonged mitochondrial manipulation predisposes organisms to age‑related diseases and oxidative stress. Sonny is aware of these limitations, and this significant drawback is why he doesn’t use his permutation outside of SOMA Enterprises. Additionally, he is of the belief that if he can restore telomeres one day, he will finally earn his father’s acknowledgement… basically he has a huge inferiority complex when it comes to his permutation haha
